IASC was invited for the 4th EU-PolarNet General Assembly which took place on 27th -28th of March in Tallinn, Estonia. During the meetings, representatives of about 30 institutions from many European countries discussed two main issues. First, progress achieved in the EU-Polarnet White Paper Process in recent months. EU-PolarNet will present the outcome of its white paper workshop at Polar2018 in Davos. Second, plans for next steps (a brain-storming session on how to effectively develop the Integrated European Polar Research Programme, which will be one of main deliverables of the project). Additionally, a public symposium organised by the Estonian Academy of Science offered a great opportunity to learn more about the Estonian Polar Programme, the Portuguese Polar Programme, and many international organisations and ongoing initiatives supporting polar, especially Arctic, research.
This meeting report was contributed by IASC Council Member Michał Luszczuk. If you are interested in representing IASC at an upcoming Arctic meeting, please contact the IASC Secretariat.
