Project Summary

The Arctic Permafrost Atlas is an open access print and digital forthcoming (April 2023) publication that will highlight the state-of-the-art knowledge about permafrost science, both physical and social. Designed and written for a non-scientific audience, it will feature a collection of over 70 unique maps and graphics about permafrost, including Arctic and regional maps, drone imagery, infographics, and hand drawn illustrations. The atlas is an output of the H2020 Nunataryuk project. By supporting this publication, IASC is helping to bring together renowned cartographers and graphic designers from leading media institutions to work with the writers and scientists that are producing the atlas in a 3-days workshop. The goal of the workshop is to refine and polish all the visual elements of the atlas, ensuring the highest design quality and effective communication of the content of the publication.
