HYBRID FORMAT

The Local Organizing Committee made its decision regarding the format and with the national COVID-19 restrictions being reduced substantially, we are happy to confirm the hybrid format of the ASSW 2022.

COVID-19 continues to impact our partners and members of the pan-Arctic community, and makes planning a fruitful summit that caters to the needs of the participants under these conditions a challenge. To assist us in doing so, the organizers of the Summit ask you to please provide us with your plans for attendance and preferences for alternative modes of engagement. We kindly request that you complete a short questionnaire by Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Your responses will be kept confidential and will assist us in planning an inclusive Summit.

This means that it will be generally possible to attend the Business & Community Meetings, the Science Day, and the Arctic Observing Summit either in-person or online. For the Business & Community Meetings a certain threshold for number of in-person participants is put in place, which means that some meetings will be hold online only due to too few in-person participants expected. The programme for the Business & Community Meetings is currently updated and indicates if meetings and workshops are held in-person only, in a hybrid format, or online only.

REGISTRATION

Registration is already open and the registration form is available on the ASSW website.

Online registration: For participants planning to attend online only this is the only form they need to fill out. Online participation is free of charge for the entire ASSW. Participants have to select the day(s) they would like to attend and will receive invitations to the respective meetings in the morning of the meeting day(s). Invitations to closed meetings are send out by the respective organizers. Invitations to open meetings are send out by the ASSW organizers.

In-person registration: Participants who plan to attend in-person in Tromsø should indicate this in the registration form. They will receive an invitation to register for in-person attendance in a separate registration form in the end of February/beginning of March. First then participants have to pay the registration fee in order to reduce the number of reimbursements due to changes in COVID-19 regulations.

Registration fees: The in-person registration fees are availible for different participant types and event categories. They all include coffee breaks and lunch. 50% reduced in-person registration fees are available for Early Career Scientists (ECS) and Indigenous participants. There is no early bird registration fee and the regular registration fees will be available until March 18. After that late/on site registration fees will apply. For more details, please check the registration fee site.
