Submissions are now open for the Third Annual Indigenous Pavilion at Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2027, taking place in Hakodate, Japan, from 11 to 20 April 2027. The deadline for submissions is 10 November 2026.
Building on the Indigenous Pavilions held at ASSW 2025 in Boulder and ASSW 2026 in Aarhus, the Pavilion will provide a dedicated space for Indigenous-led gathering, dialogue and knowledge exchange. Its programme is shaped by Indigenous scholars and centres Indigenous perspectives, relational approaches and diverse ways of knowing.
The call is open to Indigenous scholars, Elders, community members, artists, knowledge holders, rights-holders and allies whose work centres Arctic Peoples’ knowledges and co-production. Submissions may include creative activities, performances, digital contributions, round-table discussions, workshops or PowerPoint presentations.
The programme will include:
- A space for consultation, dialogue, cultural exchange and shared learning
- Indigenous caucus meetings for knowledge, stake- and rights-holders
- Artistic and creative showcases
- Film screenings featuring Indigenous perspectives
- Morning openings or blessings led by Indigenous knowledge holders
- Opportunities for students, researchers and community members to meet and collaborate
- Open sessions for conversation and reflection, as well as selected closed sessions
All organisers and participants must register for ASSW 2027 and pay the required registration fee. The registration deadline will be announced later.
