Background

The Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) is a government-sponsored polar research institute of the Republic of Korea. As the operator of Korea’s national polar programs, KOPRI also actively promotes international cooperation in polar science and research. Launched in 2015, the KOPRI Fellowship Program aims to foster collaborative research and offer emerging polar scientists networking and research opportunities by leveraging KOPRI’s growing infrastructure and capabilities. We are pleased to announce the second call for applications for the 2025 KOPRI Fellowship Program and encourage interested candidates to apply.

Program Details

The program invites polar researchers to participate in the Institute Visiting Program, which offers awardees access to office space and/or laboratory facilities at KOPRI. Once selected, the start date and research plan will be coordinated with the cooperating KOPRI scientist. These details must be shared with the Office of Global Cooperation to facilitate travel and accommodation arrangements.

How to Apply

All applicants must secure the support of a KOPRI scientist. Therefore, we strongly encourage prospective applicants to contact KOPRI researchers in advance to discuss their proposals. If you have difficulty identifying a suitable collaborator, the Office of Global Cooperation can assist and provide further information on KOPRI’s research areas.

Applications deadline is June 27, 2025.
