Join us for the first of three events in PSECCO's 2024 Leadership Workshop Series taking place online over the next three months, entitled 'Foundations in Leadership: Getting Back to the Basics'.
Academically, cryosphere early career researchers are at the forefront of our fields, though all too often leadership skill-building is overlooked in our academic preparation despite it being vital for workplace morale and efficiency. In this workshop, we will provide foundational training for you to improve your skills as a leader to complement your research expertise. We will explore successful leadership techniques, how to best harness your individualized leadership strengths, and share a leadership mantra that you will be able to apply in both academia and the broader working world. This workshop will target both those who have previous leadership experience and newcomers to the leadership landscape. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Leadership Toolbox: Team-building and Navigating Conflict

Join us for the second of three events in PSECCO's 2024 Leadership Workshop Series, entitled 'The Leadership Toolbox: Team-building and Navigating Conflict'. Learn effective conflict navigation strategies for working in field and lab teams from workshop facilitators and seasoned polar researchers having experienced conflict, including tips for communication across team roles and utilizing early team discussions for trust and performance enhancement. The workshop will conclude with interactive role-playing scenarios to reinforce how to navigate through the discussed concepts. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Leadership from Above and Below: Building Safe and Constructive Work Atmospheres

A positive workplace environment is integrally tied to workplace productivity and morale. In the last of the three events in PSECCO's 2024 Leadership Workshop Series, we will share practical tools for building safe and constructive work environments. We will provide practical techniques for debriefing, including sharing feedback tools and effective ways to communicate and build trust, along with the value of practicing emotional intelligence. In addition, we will explore concrete methods of how to give and solicit constructive feedback through different mediums and in different contexts. This workshop will target both those who have previous leadership experience and newcomers to the leadership landscape. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
