The SPLASH Action Group, sponsored by the IPA, will provide 10 grants covering the AGU Fall Meeting (12-16 December 2022) registration fees for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.

SPLASH - ‘Standardized methods across Permafrost Landscapes: from Arctic Soils to Hydrosystems’ - is a community-driven effort aiming to provide a suite of standardized field strategies for sampling mineral and organic components in soils, sediments, and water across permafrost landscapes for improving our understanding of the processes occurring during lateral transport in circumpolar Arctic watersheds. Grants will be awarded for both in-person and virtual attendees. Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time graduate student or postdoctoral fellow;
  • Have submitted an abstract and paid the registration fees;
  • Be the first author presenting an oral presentation or a poster;
  • Demonstrate, through the presented work, a scientific interest in water, energy, biological, organic and/or inorganic matter transfers and cycles taking place in permafrost landscapes, in the past, the present and the future.

Recipients will be invited to contribute, in collaboration with the SPLASH participants, in designing standardized approaches for sampling and monitoring high-latitudes ecosystems.

Applicants should send a one-page cover letter discussing how sampling and monitoring strategies are important for your research and how you deal with it, a short curriculum vitae (3 pages max.), and the abstract submitted to the AGU Fall Meeting no later than 02 November 2022 to:
