Co-creating Arctic Research together with Indigenous Rightsholders

The co-creation of knowledge based on scientific knowledge and Indigenous knowledge has the potential of crossing transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary boundaries in all fields of Arctic research and to fundamentally improve the knowledge of the Arctic human, technological and environmental dimensions. This workshop brings together Indigenous rightsholders, Indigenous and non-indigenous scholars from natural and social sciences. The aim of the workshop is the development of recommendations for co-creating research projects with a focus on Indigenous inclusion as well as to inform the academic public on the contemporary state of collaborative and co-creative methodology in Arctic research. The public part of this workshop on 22 February 2023 in the morning and invites all attendees of ASSW to join a lively panel discussion and presentations across disciplines. The closed workshop on 21 and 23 February 2023 assembles co-authors of the article “Creating futures by looking back from 2050: The roads towards collaborative research in Arctic sciences” in a writing retreat. This event is funded by IASC, the International Arctic Science Committee, and the Arctic Frost project at the University of Northern Iowa/ArctiCentre.
