Gordon Research Conference on Polar Marine Science 2027

The 2027 Gordon Research Conference on Polar Marine Science, “The Polar Oceans as Global Lynchpins,” will take place from 21–26 March 2027 in Oxnard, California, USA.

The conference will provide an international and interdisciplinary forum for discussing cutting-edge research on the rapidly changing Arctic and Southern Oceans. Its programme will explore ocean circulation and deep-water formation, freshwater change, marine ecosystems and primary production, micronutrients, greenhouse gases, aerosols and clouds, and ice-covered oceans on Earth and beyond.

Presentations, discussion sessions, posters and informal exchanges will enable researchers from different disciplines and career stages to share emerging ideas, examine persistent scientific questions and develop new collaborations across the polar marine science community.

The conference will be preceded by the Polar Marine Science Gordon Research Seminar on 20–21 March 2027. Organised for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and other early-career scientists, the seminar will focus on how Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems are responding to rapid changes driven by anthropogenic climate change.
